Best place to eat!! Sea food is amazing! It feels so very homie!! If you haven't been there you need to!!! The picture is with the chef!! Everyone makes you feel like family as soon as you we all in!! 5 star all the way..
Called ahead for an early Sunday dinner for 6 people. Chef Jerome greeted us with warm hugs and set the tone for a memorable, fun, and unique evening! The food was outstanding and service felt like you were home. The decor is wacky, neat, funny, and eclectic. He brought us sweet potato fries to try and, when he realized my 5 year old son loved his hush puppies, he immediately went back and made him more :) left with full stomachs and take out boxes. we will definitely be back!
I am in love with this place. Everything about it was perfect. Hush puppies, fried shrimp, cold slaw, fries, ribs, and the service over the top. Will be my new favorite spot!!!
The food was delicious and fresh cooked. Will definitely be back again. Chef Jerome was very nice and welcoming. Definitely a place worth checking out. Hubby had the steak and loved it, he ate more in one sitting than I've seen in a long time. I had the fried shrimp which had a delicious batter on them and were fried perfectly. The hush puppies were great!
I broke my own rule and showed up there exactly 30 minutes before they closed, but they never acted in any manner to make me feel as though I needed to hurry up to order or eat, didnt hurry us by giving us the bill early or anything you would expect when people are ready to finish their shift and head home.
Not your typical restaurant by any means, definitely a 'hole in the wall' but upon entering, you are immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman that welcomes you like you're royalty. The chef makes an appearance to ensure that you are satisfied and makes a warm and heartfelt introduction. Food..... amazing!!! Everything tasted wonderful. Thousands of pictures from many years of memories on the wall. Will definitely return and visit my new family 💜
Reading an article about wholesaler Harris Neck Oysters and Seafood I came across Old School Diner and decided to incorporate a late lunch stop on the way to Florida. Off the road, and secluded, it's an interesting location reminiscent of some hidden treasures we have been to through the years. Chef Jerome is a very personable fellow. As for the decor, it's a very unique interior, subject to individual opinion.
Our visit was on a late Sunday afternoon. We started off with a gator tail appetizer and some hush puppy's. Our main selections to be shared were oysters with a side of cole slaw, a scallop and shrimp combo, with an order of onion rings. My Little Princess's taste buds told her the seasoning of the fried food could be a little better. We both agreed that the batter was too think and attributed it to the fry oil not being up to proper temperature. The cole slaw was a little too sweet. The standouts were the hush puppy's and the scallops. Regardless of the batter issue, the scallops were the best I have ever tasted, cooked just right. The restaurant was slow, and maybe late Sunday was not the best time to visit? While the servings were ample, we felt the pricing was a little high. Service was excellent.
Mom, my sister and I took a ride down to Harris Neck today in McIntosh county. We stopped to have lunch down at the Old School diner around 11:45 while we were in the area. It's quite a different place. Don't be scared of the location or …
We consider ourselves foodies. This is the BEST food we’ve had in a long time! Great service! Seafood cooked perfectly. Ribs fell off the bone. Took me back to my grandmas kitchen.
